On April 19th 2018, Mr. Tan Weiming – Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore has visited and had a meeting with the Center for Vietnam Science and Technology Internationalization Promotion (VISTIP).

His visit is seen as one of series of activities of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Vietnam in order to realize the goal of upgrading the Vietnam – Singapore Training Center into Vietnam – Singapore Cooperation Center which was co-launched by the Mr. Chu Ngoc Anh – Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Mr. Teo Chee Hean – Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore on March 23rd 2019.

The meeting was held up at the headquarter of the Ministry of Science and Technology. On the side of VISTIP, the participation included Mr. Bui Quy Long – General Director of VISTIP, Ms. Bui Thi Huy Hop – Deputy Director of  VISTIP and some main acting managers of VISTIP. Appointed by the leader’s board, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh Quyen- S&T Events Acting Manager has had a presentation in which she introduced information of relation between the two countries, some advantages and disadvantages when investing to Vietnam and also pointed out functions and missions of VISTIP. In addition, Mr. Bui Quy Long also pointed out that the S&T integration is legalized in Law of Science and Technology and VISTIP is one of 17 public S&T Agencies and service provider of the Ministry of Science and Technology that is approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam. VISTIP has been signing MOU with many international partners from Australia, South Korea, Japan…which is seen as evidences to confirm that VISTIP has ability to implement S&T cooperative projects with Singapore as required. VISTIP would like to thank to the attention of the Deputy Chief of Mission as well as of the Embassy of Republic of Singapore in Vietnam, especially the attention of the Vietnam- Singapore Cooperation Center for VISTIP.

At the meeting, Mr. Tan Weiming would like to search more opportunities of collaboration between VISTIP and the Vietnam- Singapore Cooperation Center. Besides, he would like to have supports from VISTIP to Singapore SME’s when investing in the field of science and technology in Vietnam.

The meeting has been opening potential chances to contribute the prosperities under the cooperation between two countries in general and between VISTIP and the Singaporean SMEs community in particular.
