Deputy Minister Nguyễn Văn Lạng met with Italian Ambassador in Vietnam

On June 04, 2012, in Hanoi Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyễn Văn Lạng met and worked with Italian Ambassador in Vietnam Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni and the delegation from Italian company, iGuzzini.

Ambassador Lorenzo Angeloni shared with Deputy Minister Nguyễn Văn Lạng some information on developing the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Vietnam and Italy, which is estimated to be signed in March 2013 in Italy, on the anniversary of 40-year establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. One of key focuses of this Agreement is the economic cooperation. Ambassador Lorenzo Angeloni expressed his hope that the fields Italy could have good cooperation with Vietnam need to be included in the Agreement, including MOST’s focus areas.

In the working session, Mr. Adolfo Guzzini, President of iGuzzini company introduced the Company’s products and services, its experience in industrial lighting field, which is implemented in city centers with solutions for the best urban development while saving power.

iGuzzini is an enterprise of national scale not only in Europe but also in the world in the field of manufacturing and development of lighting technology. So far, iGuzzini has exported about 70% of its volume to more than 100 countries in the world. For 5 recent years, iGuzzini has paid special attention to develop products in Southeast Asian countries. Accordingly, iGuzzini has established a manufacturing area in Shanghai which can have the overview and provide products for the Southeast Asian region.

iGuzzini has had many S&T patents in the development of lighting technologies, contributing the important part in the world’s technology fields. iGuzzini has always paid special attention to renovating urban lighting technologies. With its technologies, iGuzzini has manufactured lights which can save 60% power.

As compared with the same type of products, iGuzzini’s products have more competitiveness than other manufacturers. iGuzzini has currently expanded its international market, and wanted to take up the Asian market in high technology zones.

The meeting was the opportunity to open cooperation opportunities between the two parties to implement the lighting system of Hanoi. In reality, iGuzzini Company has gained a lot of experience in this field when it implemented works in Beaune of France, Leyden of Spain, Rome of Italy, Baku of Azerbaijan, St. Peterburg of Russia and has recommended a lighting system project for La Havana of Cuba.

Deputy Minister Nguyễn Văn Lạng highly appreciated cooperative relations between the two countries over the past time, especially the fact that the economic cooperation between the two countries has increasingly developed, creating the premises to become a strategic partner.

The Deputy Minister said that Vietnam has currently paid a lot of attention to the issue of energy saving. Using of energy-saving lights in new urban areas has been paid special attention. Regarding the fact that iGuzzini sets the objective of developing energy-saving products in Asia and Southeast Asia, the Deputy Minister said that this was a very important task in the strategy development. However, in order to take up the market, it would be necessary to have competitiveness in energy saving, prices and duration of lighting systems.

The Deputy Minister proposed that firstly iGuzzini would need to introduce its products in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang. Secondly, it shouldn’t only stop at commercial level but also continue its research and development of products in Southeast Asian countries, including Việt Nam. Then iGuzzini would pay attention to the issue of intellectual property for products in Asia. iGuzzini should have its representative in Hanoi, including Hòa Lạc High-Tech Park.
