France – Vietnam: Cooperation and Use of Science and Technology in universities

In the meeting, Deputy Minister Chu Ngọc Anh highly appreciated cooperation between AERES and Vietnam Center for Science and Technology Evaluation (VISTEC) – under MOST over the past time. Accordingly, there have been coordination between the two agencies through information exchange and profession fields as exchanging documents related to the implementation of S&T development policies, research support programs for universities, research and training organizations for mutual benefits of the two parties on the basis of respecting regulations on secrets of each country. In addition, the two parties also coordinated to implement projects of common interests, in which the attention has been paid to cooperation projects on evaluating research and training organizations, assessing these organizations for the S&T development.

According to the agreement signed by the two agencies, the French party would support Vietnam with staff training, be responsible for costs relating to organization of training courses for experts of the two parties.

Delivering a speech in the meeting, Ms. Patricia Pol said that France hoped to continue increasing investment in S&T for libraries of Vietnam’s leading universities as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, National University of Hoc Chi Minh City ... while AERES has also moved towards establishing universities which are specialized in research. “AERES moves toward the objective of establishing 10 most outstanding agencies in S&T research field in Vietnam’s strategy for S&T development by 2020” Ms. Patricia Pol emphasized.

With the meeting, Deputy Minister Chu Ngọc Anh also expressed his desires to have support from France for transferring evaluation experience, methodologies as well as send French experts to participate in the group which drafts Instruction on evaluating research activities in Vietnam’s universities.

It is known that, AERES and VISTEC have agreed to establish cooperative relations for common interests of the two parties and together establish strategic relations to develop management activities for scientific research quality, contributing to improve S&T research activities in Vietnam, France and international communities.
