In order to introduce Luc Ngan’s litchi to Japanese consumers, the Institute of Regional Research and Development coordinated with ABI Company to introduce Luc Ngan’s litchi preserved by CAS technology in the Exhibition for Agricultural Products in Kanda, Tokyo, Japan from November 10 to 18, 2014.


Litchi preserved by CAS technology from July 01, 2014 to the end of November 2014 are still fresh.

In the exhibition, Vietnam’s litchis were tried by thousands of visitors. Most of them highly appreciated Vietnam’s litchis in terms of color and taste. Assessments through customers’ questionnaire showed that 90% customers assessed litchis preserved by CAS technology which had special color and taste like fresh litchis. 70% customers assessed the litchis were very tasty, fresh and sweet. What customers paid their most attention when using the litchis preserved by CAS technology are the quality (58%), then the price (33%). The majority of the customers said that appropriate price for 10 litchis is Y400 (equivalent to VND 80,000/10 litchis).

In the exhibition, officials of the Institute of Regional Research and Development discussed with the enterprise specialized in importing Japanese fruits, agreed on practical solutions to introduce and import Vietnam’s litchis in Japanese market.


Customers in Japan liked Vietnam’s litchi very much

Results achieved in the Exhibition for Agricultural Products in Kanda, Tokyo have showed that possibilities of using CAS technology in litchi preservation are very feasible. Vietnam’s litchis have possibilities to enter Japanese market and are accepted by the market. However, in order to export the litchis to Japanese market and other high-level markets, besides to CAS technology it is necessary to ensure requirements of food hygiene and safety, establish material areas which meet Global GAP requirements and plant litchis according to HACCP requirements.
